TOPICAL THERAPY

Topical treatment will speed the resolution of the skin disease.  It may be necessary to modify the product selection as the skin improves or if the pet does not respond well to the initial selections.  Please contact your veterinarian to obtain the recommended products.

SHAMPOOS

Anti-Itch

  • Relief Shampoo (Oatmeal and pramoxine)
    Generally, antipruritic conditioners provide longer duration of effect and allow the use of an antimicrobial shampoo to help prevent cutaneous infections

Anti-seborrheic

  • Sebalyt (sulfur, salicylic acid, triclosan)
  • SebaHex (sulfur, salicylic acid,  chlorhexidine)
  • NuSal-T (tar, sulfur, salicylic acid, menthol)
    Moderately potent tar with menthol for improved antipruritic effects.
  • Allerseb-T (tar, sulfur, salicylic acid)
    A potent tar for severe seborrhea.

Antimicrobial   

  • Chlorhexiderm Maximum
    (4% chlorhexidine)
  • Malaseb (chlorhexidine and miconazole)
     Good for yeast.     
  • Pyoben (benzoyl peroxide)
    Good degreasing activity.
  • Benzoyl Plus (benzoyl peroxide)
    Moisturizing Novasomes.
  • Etiderm
    A nice alternative to benzoyl peroxides as a comedolytic (follicular flushing)
